Are you a moving company?
Yes — Careful Way Moving is a licensed, insured moving company working out of Indianapolis, IN. The trucks are ours, the crews are our own W-2 movers, and we carry active US DOT and MC authority.
What does it usually cost to move within Indianapolis?
Around-town moves start from $139/hour for a 2-mover crew, and that figure already folds in the truck, the blankets, and every tool we bring. Plan on 2–4 hours for most 1–2 bedroom apartments; step up to a 3-bedroom house and it tends to land in the 4–6 hours range. Prefer a set price instead? After a quick walkthrough or a video estimate, we will put a flat rate in writing.
How far out should I lock in a date?
Saturdays and Sundays fill fastest around here, so lock those in 2–3 weeks out if you can. Pick a weekday or a date away from the month-of-May rush and a few days’ notice usually covers it. Got a crew sitting open? Then last-minute or same-day jobs are no problem at all.
Is there a kind of move you won’t touch?
Local Central Indiana, intrastate Indiana, and long-distance from Indianapolis to anywhere in the US. The tricky stuff — uprights and grands, gun safes, fragile antiques — falls within what we handle. Beyond the move itself, we pack for you, hold things in short-term storage, and help older clients pare down.
Are you insured?
Yes. There is $1M of cargo liability standing behind each job we take on. Want Full Value Protection? Add it on if you want it; the cost typically sits in the $35–$95 range, scaled to the value you declare. We also carry a bond, general liability, and workers’ comp on every crew. Condo boards and HOAs get their Certificate of Insurance back from us inside the same day.
Is it required that I am there while the move happens?
We would love to have you at both ends, but if your schedule will not allow it, name a person you trust to act on your behalf. Present or not, the crew logs an item-by-item inventory before loading and walks the same list with you at drop-off.
Can I push the date or cancel without a penalty?
Give us 48 hours’ heads-up to cancel and you owe nothing. Shifting to a different day is free, as long as we have a crew open then. Because weekend dates go fast, the sooner you reach out, the easier it is for us to slot you in.
Which ways can I pay you?
Settle up whatever way works for you — Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, debit, a certified check, or plain cash. Booking takes zero deposit. Payment is due at delivery and not a moment sooner, once you have inspected the load and given the okay.
Suppose an item gets damaged — how is that handled?
Standard valuation coverage rides along on each job at no extra step. Spot any damage? Point it out to the crew chief on the spot. It goes straight onto the inventory sheet and the claim gets started on the spot. Most claims are wrapped up within 5–7 business days. Own something especially valuable? Full Value Protection is available to bolt on for a fee.
